Field Application Engineer

Nearfield Instruments brings together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop a revolutionary high throughput atomic force microscopy (AFM) system, enabling atom-scale resolution 3D metrology at industry-level throughput. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced metrology machines.

What will you be doing?

The Application team consists of Product Development, AFM Application Development, Application Service, Field Application Engagement, Measurement Setup, System Training, and Technical Support. The application team aims to partner with our customers to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services.

As a Field Applications Engineer, you will integrate our state-of-the-art semiconductor metrology systems in the customer’s production line. You are working directly with the customer on setting up (new) measurement recipes regarding wafer metrology of customer wafer applications. You introduce new functionalities and products to the customer and coordinate implementation and testing.

  • Application support of fully automated NFI systems at the customer site.

  • Build a strong relationship with the customer by working closely with them.
  • Train the customer on how to use the NFI systems and help in case of questions.
  • Assist customer in creating measurement recipes for new metrology applications.
  • Troubleshoot in case of technical issues regarding NFI equipment to customer product interaction.
  • Define and report back product improvements to NFI headquarters.
  • Prepare and execute new product introduction including training, scope of work definition, test performance specification, success criteria and delivering final reports to the customer and NFI headquarters.
  • Develop practical analysis tools where applicable, for understanding machine behavior in the interaction with customer substrates / wafers.
  • Lead or assist in SW upgrades and SW issues troubleshooting and resolution.

What do we require from you?

  • Degree in a relevant field with some years of work experience in the Semiconductor industry.

  • Strong knowledge of operation/applications of semiconductor metrology tools is required.
  • Have 1+ years of field work experience with customer engagement experiences, or 1+ years’ experience in IC processing/semiconductor equipment/ semiconductor industry or related field.
  • Have a strong affinity with SW and controls understanding and troubleshooting.
  • Preferably to have coding capability (Matlab, Python...etc.) for data analysis, visualization, and algorithm development.
  • Flexible and capable of working in a high-tech environment.
  • Excellent communication/presentation, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidate must be self-driven, independent, yet a strong team player.
  • Academic/Industry AFM Knowledge is a plus.
  • You have a good command of the Korean and English language, both written and oral.
