Chips are shrinking, becoming increasingly powerful and complex. But as a result, currently used metrology systems in the semiconductor industry no longer meet process control requirements. Nearfield Instruments offers the solution in terms of speed, precision and the capability of measuring the very latest, most complex 3D nanostructures. As a field service engineer, you will play a key role in delivering the solution for each customer’s metrology needs. What you’re going to do?

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be servicing our semiconductor metrology systems at the customer fab. You are responsible for periodic and preventive maintenance of our products and execute hardware (HW) and Software (SW) upgrades. You solve potential problems that occur during wafer operations. You also improve procedures, do administrative updates in the issue database, and suggest improvement proposals to increase the serviceability and reliability of NFI products.

Besides working to improve our systems you are our eyes and ears in the customer fabs for customer feedback about Nearfield and competition.

The work will include:

  • Troubleshoot on NFI products in case of problems;

  • Collect logging and diagnostics data, analyse and discuss it with the support team and conduct root-cause analysis;

  • Execute and /or implement solution for problems during service or upgrade;

  • Execute tests on (sub)system level and document progress of service and test plans;

  • Solve and/or report problems during service and come with improvement proposals;

  • Replace spare parts and / or upgrade spare parts using procedures and tools;

  • Create test and calibration procedures for (sub)systems of NFI products;

  • When required, order spare parts and tools from NFI headquarters;

  • Inspection and registration of delivered spare parts and consumables;

  • Prepare facilities, tools, procedures and system for service and upgrade;

  • Maintain the toolbox which includes inspect and cleaning tools and in case broken, replacing these tools.

What do we require from you?

  • Strong knowledge of operation/applications of semiconductor metrology tools is required;

  • Have 1+ years of field work experience with customer engagement experiences, or 1+ years’ experience in IC processing/semiconductor equipment/ semiconductor industry or related field;

  • Have a strong affinity with SW and controls;

  • Degree in a relevant field with some years of work experience in the Semiconductor industry;

  • Preferably have coding capability (Matlab, Python...etc.) for data analysis, visualization, and algorithm development;

  • Flexible and capable of working in a high-tech environment;

  • Excellent communication/presentation, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills;

  • Bee self-driven, independent, yet a strong team player.
