About Nearfield Instruments

Nearfield Instruments (NFI) is a fast-growing scale-up high-tech company. We design, develop, integrate, market and service advanced metrology machines. Our machines enable our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers – to increase the production yields, and thus, functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics.

Founded in 2016, we bring together the most creative minds (approx. 250 employees) in science and technology and develop a one-of-a-kind, revolutionary high throughput Scanning Probe Microscopy system.

Where will you be working?

With a team of eight facility professionals at your side, you’ll steer the strategic and day-to-day decisions that make our global spaces smarter, more efficient, and perfectly aligned with the needs of a high-tech scale-up.

What will you be doing?

The Global Facility Manager oversees the maintenance, operations, and overall functionality of our organization's facilities across multiple locations in Rotterdam, South Korea, USA, Singapore and our future locations. This role ensures that all physical workplaces, including offices, laboratories and production locations (cleanrooms) are well-maintained, safe, and conducive to productivity. The Global Facility Manager is critical to ensure efficient operations globally, today and in the future.

Responsibilities include:

  • Facility Maintenance and Operations: managing all aspects of our facility maintenance, including repairs, upkeep, and preventative maintenance programs;

  • Safety and Security: ensuring a safe and secure environment for our employees and visitors by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and security measures.

  • Space Management: optimizing the use of physical space to support business operations and our employee needs, including workspace planning and layout design;

  • Budget Management: developing and managing budgets for our facility operations and maintenance, ensuring cost-effective solutions;

  • Vendor Management: overseeing relationships with vendors for services such as cleaning, security, and maintenance;

  • Compliance: ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards related to facility management;

  • Sustainability: implementing sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact and reduce energy consumption;

  • Strategic Planning: developing our long-term facility management strategies to support the organization's overall goals and objectives.

Why is the position interesting for you?

  • Lead with impact: take the reins of a global facility network across Europe, Asia, and the US, directly shaping the work environments that fuel next-generation chip innovation.

  • Empower a growing team: Manage and inspire a skilled team of eight facility professionals, driving strategic and operational excellence in a dynamic, fast-scaling high-tech company.

  • Build the future of tech infrastructure: From cleanrooms to cutting-edge labs, you’ll optimize and future-proof the spaces where breakthrough technology is born; sustainably, smartly, and globally.

What are we looking for?

A scale up can provide phenomenal learning and development opportunities but can also be a hectic environment at times. You must fit in such a climate and don’t mind to constantly implementing changes and process improvements, and to go the extra mile on a regular basis and feel comfortable with some uncertainty.

Furthermore, you need to recognize yourself in the profile as described below.

  • Education background, at Bachelor or Master level in relevant field, like Facility Management or (Technical) Business Administration;

  • Extensive experience, at least 10 years, in the field of Facility Management in an industrial (high tech) environment with a proven track record of managing multiple locations;

  • Leadership & Team Management, ability to lead, inspire, and develop a diverse team across different locations and cultures;

  • Strategic thinking, capable of aligning and implementing facility operations with long-term business goals and global growth strategies in mind, while handling the challenges of today;

  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management, able to build strong relationships across departments and influence decisions without formal authority;
