About Nearfield Instruments

Nearfield Instruments (NFI) is a fast-growing scale-up high-tech company. We design, develop, integrate, market and service advanced metrology machines. Our machines enables our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers – to increase the production yields, and thus, functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics.

Founded in 2016, we bring together the most creative minds (approx. 160 employees) in science and technology and develop a one-of-a-kind, revolutionary high throughput Scanning Probe Microscopy system.

This will be your team

You are working in the Production Operations department. Within this department you are part of the System Integration team and focus on the assembly, validation and testing of our mini atomic force microscopy (MAFM).

What will you be doing?

In this position you will be working for approx. 60/70% of your time on assembly with delicate mechanics and hundreds of components to create our mini atomic force microscope. You work precisely, are focused while following assembly procedures. You are able to suggest improvements and to update procedures. You will be working in our ISO 5 clean room.

Next step is the testing and validation of the MAFM. You execute test, create reports and logs and you have a basic knowledge of coding. This will be 30/40% of your time.

  • Sometimes things don’t work out as expected. You are able to deal with this;
  • Working with delicate components;
  • Understanding of the validation scripts.
Why is the position interesting for you?

  • Do you want to learn a lot and fast? This is the right position for you;
  • You are working on the measurement tool of the machine that measures the quality of chips.

What are we looking for?

A scale-up like Nearfield Instruments can provide phenomenal learning and development opportunities but can also be a hectic environment at times. You must fit in such a climate and don’t mind to constantly implement changes and process improvements, and to go the extra mile on a regular basis and feel comfortable with some uncertainty.

Furthermore, you have the following experience/competences:

  • Background or higher education Fine Mechanical engineering or similar;
  • Relevant working experience as Assembly Engineer, AIT engineer or similar;
  • You are precise and persistent;
  • Enthusiastic, drive to exceed and learn;
