Job description

About Nearfield Instruments

Nearfield Instruments develops advanced metrology solutions for the semiconductor industry. Our technology helps the world’s leading chipmakers measure and control increasingly complex manufacturing processes, enabling the next generation of semiconductor innovation.

Founded in 2016, we have grown from an ambitious start-up into a rapidly expanding global scale-up. As more of our systems are installed worldwide, reliable spare-parts availability becomes increasingly important to maintaining machine performance and supporting our customers.

To support this growth, we are looking for a Spare Parts Manager who will build and improve the processes behind our global spare-parts operation.

What will you be doing?

As Manager Spare Parts, you will ensure that the right parts are available in the right place at the right time. You will develop reliable and scalable processes for both planned and unplanned maintenance, helping reduce downtime and improve the performance of our systems.

You will combine data, technical insight, and supply-chain expertise to determine which parts we need, where they should be stored, and how we manage the associated risks and costs.

This is a role with significant ownership in a fast-paced scale-up environment. You will work closely with Customer Service, Supply Chain, Engineering, and other technical teams to build a spare-parts operation that can grow alongside our global installed base.

Job requirements

Your responsibilities

  • Build and improve spare-parts processes for planned and unplanned maintenance, using our ERP system as the foundation.

  • Develop and implement a scalable global spare-parts strategy.

  • Carry out risk assessments and translate them into practical inventory and availability decisions.

  • Ensure the right parts are available across storage locations, logistics flows, and customer regions.

  • Analyse component performance, usage, failure patterns, and lifecycle risks.

  • Work with Customer Service and Engineering to investigate the root causes of component failures.

  • Use installed-base data to improve forecasting, inventory levels, and spare-parts availability.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to strengthen supplier performance, availability, and part quality.

  • Work with Engineering to reduce dependency on high-risk or unreliable components.

  • Balance machine availability, customer impact, inventory investment, and operational costs.

  • Develop clear KPIs and reporting to monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities.

What do we expect from you?

You take a structured and analytical approach to building reliable processes. You understand that effective spare-parts management requires balancing availability, risk, cost, and customer impact.

You are comfortable working in an environment that is developing quickly and where not every process is fully defined. You take ownership, work across functional boundaries, and turn data and technical input into practical decisions.

You bring

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, industrial engineering, business engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Relevant experience in spare-parts management, supply chain, logistics, inventory management, service operations, or reliability engineering.

  • Experience developing or improving processes in a technical or operational environment.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into practical decisions.

  • Experience working with ERP systems and inventory-management processes.

  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance, component reliability, MTBF, or structured problem-solving methods.

  • Experience in a high-tech capital equipment environment is strongly preferred.

  • Experience in the semiconductor or metrology industry is an advantage.

  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Professional proficiency in English, our shared working language.

What do we offer?

At Nearfield Instruments, you will join a company at a unique stage of growth. We are scaling globally while continuing to develop technology that pushes the boundaries of semiconductor metrology.

We offer:

  • The opportunity to build and shape a critical global capability as our installed base continues to grow.

  • A role with direct impact on machine availability, customer satisfaction, and operational performance.

  • The chance to work with advanced metrology technology used by leading semiconductor manufacturers.

  • A fast-paced scale-up environment where your decisions and contributions have a visible impact.

  • Significant ownership and the freedom to improve processes, introduce structure, and implement new ideas.

  • Close collaboration with specialists across Customer Service, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations.

  • An international and ambitious team united by a shared interest in innovation and technology.

  • Excellent opportunities for personal and professional growth as the company continues to scale.

  • A competitive salary aligned with your experience and expertise.

  • A one-year contract with the intention of permanent employment.

  • A strong pension scheme and commuting allowance.

  • 30 vacation days based on a full-time contract.

  • 8% holiday allowance.

  • Flexibility to exchange public holidays for days that are meaningful to you.

  • A structured onboarding programme.
