This role is about the product control environment only and does not cover general corporate IT or site infrastructure.

Job description

NFI is looking for a hands-on Product System Administrator to support and improve the operation technology (OT) inside our product. This role is about the product control environment only and does not cover general corporate IT or site infrastructure. You will help keep product systems stable, secure, and easy to support across their full lifecycle.

The product control architecture includes control boxes, industrial switches, firewalls, Windows server, Ubuntu/Linux , and data storage. These components run product software, connect subsystems, protect network boundaries, and store operational and diagnostic data. We expect this role to understand how these parts work together and to keep them secure, reliable, and supportable.

What you will do

  • Operate and improve product control systems/infrastructure with a strong focus on uptime, security, recovery and supportability

  • Troubleshoot complex connectivity and performance issues across network and host layers

  • Support product issues by finding the cause, separating environment and software problems, and escalating with clear evidence

  • Manage core networking such as subnets, routing, DNS, gateways, NAT, and firewall rules

  • Build/maintain site-to-site VPNs and remote access and debug using logs and packet inspection tools

  • Administer Windows Server and Ubuntu/Linux systems used in the product environment

  • Strengthen security through hardening, patching, access control, least privilege, secure baselines, vulnerability remediation and structured change management

  • Keep documentation, monitoring, backup, and recovery processes up to date

  • Work closely with the IT team and Production team when product issues, deployments, or support activities require cross-team coordination

  • Take part in incident response and on-call support when needed

Job requirements

What we are looking for

Must-have

  • Around 5 years of hands-on system administration experience in product, OT, or industrial environments

  • Strong networking skills, including routing, subnets, gateways, DNS, and firewalls.

  • Experience with VPNs and packet-level troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark or tcpdump

  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server, including Active Directory, Group Policy, patching, and permissions

  • Hands-on experience with Ubuntu/Linux administration, including services, updates, permissions, and logs

  • Hands-on experience with RAID configuration and storage management in server or product environments

  • Security-oriented mindset with strong attention to hardening, least privilege, and incident handling

Nice-to-have

  • Familiarity with OT or industrial environments and their availability and change-control needs

  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and incident or problem management

  • Automation skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python. Ansible is a plus

  • Experience with virtualization (Hyper-V/QEMU) and backup or disaster recovery practices

What success looks like

  • Faster and clearer troubleshooting of product issues

  • Better visibility (monitoring/logging), fewer repeat incidents through stronger monitoring and root-cause follow-up

  • Better security through timely patching, stronger access control, and cleaner system baselines

  • Clear documentation and repeatable support processes
