As a QA Test Engineer in our dynamic Software Group, you will play a crucial role in developing and testing the software that drives these state-of-the-art tools, ensuring they meet the rigorous demands of the industry.
As a Embedded Test & Integration Engineer at Nearfield Instruments, you’ll ensure the reliability and performance of our advanced metrology software in a dynamic environment that is constantly evolving due to technological advances and our international growth ambitions.
Your responsibilities include:
Preparing and implementing test plans and strategies based on software and system requirements throughout the software development life cycle.
Designing and specifying detailed test cases for complex embedded systems, ensuring thorough testing and reliability.
Setting up and managing test environments for different levels of testing, including software and system integration.
Executing and overseeing testing at various stages, from unit testing to system-level validation, ensuring seamless software integration.
Analysing and debugging issues during testing and after software release, providing insights for ongoing improvement.
Generating comprehensive test reports, offering analysis and actionable recommendations based on test results.
You’ll join Nearfield Instruments’ Software Group, within the Design and Engineering (D&E) department. Within the Software Group you will join a small, young team of QA engineers from various backgrounds. The environment is collaborative and informal, focused on agile methodologies to ensure open communication, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. You also have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience in designing and implementing test plans and strategies specifically for embedded systems and complex software development life cycles.
Proficiency in test scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, and Python, and experience with test automation tools and frameworks.
Experience with setting up and managing test environments for software and system levels, including integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines and configuration management tools.
Strong skills in analysing and debugging issues during testing and post-release, with a track record of generating comprehensive and actionable test reports.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Git, Jira, and CI/CD, with ISTQB Foundation Level certification being a plus.
