Nearfield Instruments (NFI) is a fast-growing scale-up high-tech company. We design, develop, integrate, market and service advanced metrology machines. Our machines enables our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers – to increase the production yields, and thus, functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics.

Founded in 2016, we bring together the most creative minds (approx. 160 employees) in science and technology and develop a one-of-a-kind, revolutionary high throughput Scanning Probe Microscopy system.

Where you will be working?

Within our Design & Engineering department this role is part of the Software Group. This SW Group consists of 5 teams (Architectural, Machine Control, Device Control, Data Science, Integration & Support).You will be part of the Device Control team (12 colleagues). 

What will you be doing?

As senior Software Engineer you take part in all development aspects from design to production. You write high quality, testable and efficient code for our hardware, so a background in semiconductor, medical or close to hardware is very welcome.


You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Design and implement Software components to control complex Hardware;
  • Initiate and promote new ideas for continuous improvement of the product;
  • Work independently and as a team member (sometimes on a global scale);
  • Maintain existing code.

What experience do you have?

  • 5+ years’ experience in c# SW development/testing/integration, OOP Design/Architecture;
  • Experience in writing software for electronics/robotics/mechatronics; 
  • Knowledge: Communication, External Interfaces, Signal Processing - Advantage;
  • Coding/Design/ Quality: C# is a must, preferences: C++, Python, OOP Design, Unit-Testing;
  • Process and Tracking: Agile/Scrum, Jira;
  • Source Control and Configuration: Git, CI/CD.
