Nearfield Instruments (NFI) is a scale up that brings Atomic Force Metrology (AFM) to address metrology challenges in leading-edge high-volume semiconductor manufacturing. Our QAUDRATM metrology tool enables atom-scale resolution 3D metrology at industry-level throughput. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced metrology machines, and are expanding our business in the US, Europe and Asia.
What will you be doing?
The Taiwan Service Manager develops the support infrastructure for Nearfield’s Taiwan installed base. This includes hiring and developing service and applications engineers for installation and sustaining support.
The service manager also identifies opportunities for improving reliability, availability and serviceability of our equipment in the field, and drives implementation of these improvements locally or when needed globally.
In addition, the service manager shares insights and recommendations for improving the bottom line of our install, service and upgrade business. This includes both opportunities to add more value for the customer as well as ways to execute at lower costs.
Besides setting up and running a healthy local support business, the service manager also acts as the eyes and ears in the customer fab for Nearfield product performance and competitive intelligence.
As Nearfield’s business grows you will set up new sites in Taiwan and ensure learnings from Hsinchu are translated to these new sites.
Your main responsibilities include:
Measure and reliability, availability and serviceability of the installed base and translate this in improvement activities which you implement.
Drive product design and service quality improvements.
Share learnings and adopt learnings from other sites.
Establish a new local service organization in Hsinchu, including hiring and developing field service and applications engineers, setting up ways of working with the team and with the customer.
Ensure we are ready for future demand in Hsinchu and other sites by understanding and preparing for customer ramp plans.
Share business intelligence on competition
Ensure the voice of the customer (why, what, when something is needed) is represented in Nearfield’s internal decision making on produce development, installation, upgrades and field service support.
Support service revenue and margin at the customer.

Communicates confidently with customers on topics ranging from short term escalations to long term improvement roadmaps.
Collaborates with support, development and commercial teams in Hsinchu and overseas to ensure the best overall result for the customer
Demonstrated track record:
Running an install & support team in the semiconductor industry.
New product introductions
Metrology experience is not a requirement but is a plus.
Travel as needed to NFI headquarters in the Netherlands. In the Taiwan your main activities will be in Hsinchu. This may expand as our products get adopted at other sites.
