Technical Facility Coordinator

Take responsibility for the optimal facilitation of our cleanroom and labs.

Full-time · Rotterdam

Are you looking for a challenging position in a young, dynamic, and international company in which you contribute to a safe and comfortable working environment? Are you that perceptive person who always keeps an eye out for potential risks and defects and knows exactly how to tackle them? Then we are offering you a great opportunity as Technical Facility Coordinator!

What is Nearfield Instruments?

Nearfield Instruments is a fast-paced high-tech company in the semiconductor industry, established in 2016. Our multicultural employee base currently consists of 170+ people and over 35 nationalities. We design and produce metrology equipment for some of the world’s leading chipmakers. Our equipment has a unique and revolutionary Scanning Probe Microscopy system with high throughput that enables 3D-metrology on an atomic scale at industry level. This enables our customers to make their chips faster, smaller, and more powerful.

OUR CORE VALUES

  • lead, not follow

  • open and honest

  • empowerment and trust

  • passion and determination

  • fun and open-minded

  • “to boldly go”

What will you be doing?

As Technical Facility coordinator you are responsible for the day-to-day execution of the facility department tasks. In this role you are the go-to person for requests, complaints, or anything technical facility related for both internal Nearfield Instruments parties as well as the external parties (suppliers) who regularly visit our premises. We currently hold 2 offices in Rotterdam (in walking distance of each other); our main office, including the cleanroom facilities and logistics area, and our secondary office.

Within our offices, warehouse, labs, and - most importantly - the cleanroom area, all tasks are in your span of control, ranging from the most simple tasks such as changing a lightbulb to the very complicated ones, such as maintaining the cleanroom.

The ideal candidate for this role is very well organized and independent and acts promptly in unexpected circumstances. You know exactly what to do when a door suddenly doesn’t open anymore and can fix sudden malfunctions and scheduled maintenance in the least disruptive way for our daily business. This way, you make sure we can adequately perform the experimental-, development- and manufacturing work for our metrology systems.

Specific tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Executing the facility plan and all preventive and corrective maintenance actions on equipment within Nearfield Instruments, including inventory management.

  • Executing lab/cleanroom procedures and implementing and enforcing cleanliness/organization standards

  • Troubleshoot activities in case of facility and equipment issues

  • Being the main interface towards various suppliers, vendors, landlord and internal stakeholders

  • Taking care of installation of new equipment and facility related services

  • Coordinating safety matters (access control system, camera system, fire installation)

  • Collaborate with the Production Operations team to increase efficiency and solve bottlenecks

  • Overseeing & coordinating the realization of a new cleanroom in the foreseeable future

  • Writing new and updating existing procedures and manuals

  • Coordinating the work of the Technical Facility Assistant

What do you bring to the table?

We are looking for a candidate that already has some years of experience as a Technical Facility Coordinator in a high-tech environment comparable to Nearfield Instruments. Furthermore, you need to recognize yourself in the following profile:

  • A minimum of MBO (vocational) degree in a technical education

  • 3+ years of experience in a comparable tech environment

  • Available 40 hours a week

  • A service-minded attitude

  • You speak and write both Dutch (fluent) and English (minimum level B2)

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize

  • Strong communication skills

  • A quick learner that enjoys learning on-the-go

  • Experience in the semiconductor industry would be a plus

  • Cleanroom facility experience a BIG plus

  • Preferably living in Rotterdam or max. 30 min travel distance

If you do not have any semiconductor industry or similar experience (yet), but you are still notably technically experienced and willing to learn, we would still love to hear from you!
