To support our continued growth in Singapore and across Asia, we are looking for a Field Service Engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, working directly with customers, and making a visible impact in a high-tech, international environment.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting and optimizing our systems at customer sites, helping leading semiconductor manufacturers achieve the performance required for the next generation of chips.

Job requirements

What will you do?

As a Field Service Engineer, you are responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrade of Nearfield Instruments' metrology systems at customer facilities.

You will work closely with customers, technical support teams, and headquarters to resolve issues, improve product performance, and ensure successful operation of our systems in high-volume manufacturing environments.

You are also the eyes and ears of Nearfield Instruments at the customer site, providing valuable feedback on product performance, customer needs, and market developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Nearfield systems

  • Execute hardware and software upgrades

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and perform root-cause analysis

  • Collect and analyze diagnostic and logging data

  • Execute system testing and document service activities

  • Install and replace spare parts using approved procedures

  • Identify and propose improvements to product reliability and serviceability

  • Support system installations and customer escalations

  • Prepare tools, procedures, and equipment required for service activities

  • Manage and maintain service tools and spare parts inventory

  • Collaborate with headquarters support teams to resolve complex issues

  • Build strong relationships with customers and provide professional on-site support

What are we looking for?

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field

  • Experience in the semiconductor industry or supporting semiconductor equipment

  • Experience with field service, equipment support, installations, maintenance, or process engineering

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

  • Affinity with software, controls, and automation

  • Ability to work independently in a customer-facing environment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and hands-on approach

  • Willingness to travel and work in semiconductor fabs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with semiconductor metrology equipment

  • Experience supporting leading semiconductor manufacturers

  • Programming or scripting experience (Python, MATLAB or similar)

  • Experience with data analysis and diagnostics

  • Experience working in an international high-tech environment
