
Job description
The Site Operations Manager leads the Nearfield sustaining organization supporting the Intel semiconductor fabrication site and is accountable for operational performance, customer satisfaction, and contractual execution.
This role requires direct engagement with the customer on sustaining support, tool installations and upgrades, workforce certification, and service agreement compliance. The Site Operations Manager ensures alignment with commercial commitments, drives continuous improvement, and effectively communicates Nearfield’s value proposition to senior internal and external stakeholders.
This is a hands-on leadership position requiring an active presence in the fab. Direct engagement with tool sets, field engineers, and customer counterparts is essential to developing organizational capability, strengthening technical depth, coaching talent, and reinforcing a culture of safety, quality, and output.
Strong cross-functional coordination with Nearfield product and customer support organizations is critical to ensure seamless execution and long-term customer success.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Drive a “Safety First” culture across the service organization, ensuring strict adherence to fab protocols and corporate EHS standards.
Lead and direct site support personnel in routine and escalated service activities.
Maintain active engagement on the fab floor to mentor engineers, reinforce best practices, and identify improvement opportunities.
Ensure execution of installations, upgrades, preventive maintenance, and corrective support in accordance with contractual obligations.
Establish and maintain site performance metrics; develop and execute corrective and improvement plans as required.
Drive cost-effective output solutions without compromising quality or customer commitments.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives (CIP) across service, operational, and commercial performance.
Customer Management
Serve as primary leadership interface with Intel site management.
Partner with product divisions to reduce warranty exposure and improve lifecycle cost performance.
Proactively resolve customer issues with urgency and professionalism.
Communicate Nearfield’s value-added services and strategic positioning to key stakeholders.
People & Organizational Development
Set clear performance objectives aligned to safety, quality, and output priorities.
Conduct formal performance reviews and identify development and training plans.
Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and hands-on technical engagement to elevate team capability.
Ensure effective workload planning and resource allocation.
Foster a disciplined, accountable, and high-performance service culture.
Strategic & Cross-Functional Alignment
Interpret and implement corporate policies and site-level procedures.
Participate in departmental strategy and policy development.
Collaborate with Rotterdam customer support to ensure consistency in service delivery and best-practice adoption.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related technical discipline required
Experience
5–10 years of field service management experience in the semiconductor capital equipment industry
Demonstrated site or project management experience
Prior field service engineer or fab maintenance background required
Intel site experience strongly preferred
Strong data analysis and problem-solving capability
Excellent presentation and executive communication skills
Conflict management and resolution expertise
Advanced PC and reporting skills
